Résumé
: L’auteur discutera la pertinence de l’hypothèse d’une immatérialité totale du medium digital. Cet article, considérant le pixel dans ses aspects physique, humain et agi, vise à élaborer une représentation plus complexe et texturée de l’Internet. La toile numérique pourrait alors être vue comme matériau identificateur d’une transposition électronique et instantanée d’actions et de comportements communs.

Abstract
: The article will question the relevance of a determinist way of considering the pixel, denying the myth of its absolute immateriality. It will present a case for a more complex and textured representation of the web that is determined by the aesthetic of the pixel conceived as the material identifier of an electronic and instantaneous transposition of actions and behaviors across the globe.

Brief biography
: Dr. Lanfranco Aceti works as an academic, artist and curator. He is Associate Professor in Contemporary Art and Digital Culture at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Sabanci University, Istanbul, and Editor in Chief of the Leonardo Electronic Almanac. He has written for Leonardo and Art Inquiry and his interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersection between digital arts, visual culture and new media technologies.
